Stronger together!

You will be aware that at the last meeting with representatives from SGN we made it very clear that there is widespread opposition to a summer road closure of the southern entry into Crieff. The SGN representatives were left in no doubt that the town was united in its opposition to these plans and that Crieff Succeeds would be a strong advocate for local businesses interests. At this meeting SGN agreed to: revisit their original plans; carry out another survey to look at alternatives; do all they can to avoid a summer project of works and to work closely with Crieff Succeeds to ensure that the work is carried out with the minimum disruption and economic impact possible.

Today David McCann met again with representatives from SGN and can confirm that they have now committed to:

• No bridge closure and only temporary traffic lights
• Work will now commence in January 2020

We are delighted that SGN have listened and responded to what they have described as one of the best consultations they have ever been involved in and that together  a solution has been found that minimises the negative impact on Crieff.

Thanks to everyone who attended the public meeting and completed our economic impact survey which helped to persuade SGN of the need to revisit their plans.

Stronger together is the message we can take from this!
